SUBSOIL DATA BANK. ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING OF GEOTECHNICAL DATA

BANQUE DES DONNEES DU SCUSS-SOL--SAISIE ET EXPLOITATION DES DONNEES GEOTECHNIQUES.

The subsoil data bank is a national bank to which many disciplines have contributed: geology, hydrogeology, soil and rock geotechnics, geochemistry and geophysics. All data collected are not automatically stored. The selection criteria are based on the available space, the economic interest of the data, their quantity and the frequency of searches. The data not put on memory is kept in files. The data are stored in normal language by means of standardized vocabulary. Lithological data are processed according to semantic analysis. Details are given of the in-put sheets which form a file where geographical, administrative and other data are kept together with references to the non-stored data, geological cross-section, level searched, numerical files and geotechnical data. The data bank program is limited to outputting data in the form of lists, tables, curves, site plans or format files on any form of supports: cards, tapes or discs.
