SYNTHETIC ROPE SYSTEM FOR DEEPSEA MOORINGS
A composite system using double-braided polyester mooring lines connected to relatively short chains and conventional anchors gives nearly equal mooring performance at all depths and is said to be superior at 600 ft and beyond when compared to wire or chain. System operation including winch and fairlead arrangement is described. The holding power at various depths is compared for the three mooring systems.
