INVESTIGATION OF THE SERVICE LOADS IMPOSED ON THE SHAFTING OF HYDROFOIL CRAFT
Strain gauges were used to measure stresses on hydrofoil craft shafting in calm water and up to sea states 2, on a straight course and during turning. Stresses due to torsional vibration, and the effect of propeller fitting were also considered. Unhardened and hardened steel shafts were tested.
