SINGLE POINT MOORING-AN EVOLVING SCIENCE
The article reviews briefly the development of conventional buoy mooring (CBM) and single point mooring (SPM) from the 1930s and 1950s respectively. "SPM" - terminolgy is explained and the reliability of the "SPM"-system and its associated downtime is discussed. The locations and installation dates of most "SPM"-systems installed since 1971 are given.
