PROPER LUBRICATION-THE KEY TO BETTER BEARING LIFE. PART 2: SOME TYPICAL LUBRICATING PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTION

In this second of three installments, such factors as the speed limitations of lubricants, the compatibility of various types of oils and greases, and the viscosity requirements of petroleum products are discussed. Actual experience data are presented and some typical operating problems are analyzed. It is apparent that the lubricant selection process, if it is to be effective, must be followed up by a sound maintenance and servicing schedule.
