SOME PROPERTIES OF FLINT PARTICLES AND THEIR BEHAVIOUR IN CONCRETE

This paper describes and discusses the formation and types of flint as well as some of the physical and chemical properties relevant to their use in concrete. The results of practical examinations of flints of different colours separated from gravel from one source indicate some differences in properties and the influence they have upon the strength and freezing-and-thawing resistance of concrete. Results of tests on concrete made with the different coloured flints are also reported.(a) /TRRL/
