INDUSTRIAL PAVEMENTS BASED ON EPOXY-RESINS

PAVIMENTOS INDUSTRIALES BASADOS EN RESINAS EPOXI

This publication deals with the use of epoxy-resin mortars in various types of pavements:- (1) subjected to heavy traffic by metal-wheeled vehicles; (2) garages and parking places; (3) laundries; (4) chemical industries. The aggregates are analysed according to type (quartzite, calcined bauxite, etc.), particle-size grading, and moisture content (less than 0.05 per cent). An epoxy-resin incorporating a dilutant (to improve workability on site) was used in the tests. Both polyamines and polyamides were used as hardeners, the former giving good chemical resistance and the latter giving good adhesion and flexibility. Values are given of the aggregate/matrix ratio, which varies according to the type of paving being considered. Curves are presented which show the relationship between the aggregate/matrix ratio and:- tensile strength; compressive strength; bending strength; flexural modulus. Before applying the mortar it is necessary to clean the support, and the appropriate cleansing agents for various types of surface are mentioned. /TRRL/
