APPLICATION OF ADHESIVES USED AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURE
This article discusses the problems encountered in the application of adhesives to insulate LNG tankers, and presents the data gathered in developing a working standard for bonding. As the adhesives used on the panels are exposed to very low temperature, the optimum types of adhesives required are epoxy resins and resorcinol. The application method for both types of glue is described along with quality assurance procedures.
