FINAL REPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE STUDY OF WAVES
The report presents a review of the literature and discusses the general principles for the selection of a structure type to meet a given need at a given place that depends directly on the violence and duration of the largest storm waves that can occur at the site. Mathematical models are given for the use of various methods of calculation of vertical breakwaters, composite type breakwaters, rubble mound breakwaters, breakwaters with sand core and bituminous covering, and other coastal protective structures.
