TRANSLATION OF JAPANESE MANUAL PART 2:PAVEMENTS

This translation of the part of the Japanese construction manual concerned with pavements covers pavement structure, asphalt pavements, the essentials of pavement detailing and the paving of associated facilities. The manual draws on best practice overseas and frequently reflects North American practice but is noteworthy for its modifications of these practices and for its innovations. In particular, it has established a claim to be the best available manual of road practice for volcanic soils and is noteable for its contributions to the treatment of soft soils in high rainfall areas. /Author/TRRL/
