PRODUCTION OF METHANOL FUEL FROM SYNTHETIC GAS

Feasibility studies regarding methanol fuel indicate that methanol is more advantageous than liquified natural gas. Methanol fuel projects would be feasible only if plants could be constructed on a very large scale. This is impossible due to plant size limitation, and methanol for power generation is therefore unprofitable. Methanol is however much more environmentally acceptable than liquified natural gas, low sulphur crude oil or naphtha. /TRRL/
