METALLURGICAL FURNACE SLAG AGGREGATE FOR CONCRETE. METRIC UNITS

This specification applies to slags from metallurgical furnaces for use as fine or coarse aggregate up to 75mm nominal maximum size. It gives details of sampling, requirements, grading, bulk density, unit mass, particle shape, physical properties, water absorption, soundness, deleterious materials,material finer than 75 microns, sulphur content, description, and tests and statement of compliance. Three appendices deal with (1) stability against iron unsoundness and dusting or falling unsoundness, (2) method for determining the sulphur content in metallurgical slag, and (3) the use of slags other than iron blast furnace slag as aggregate for concrete. /TRRL/
