THE ECONOMICS OF URBAN TRANSPORT

An attempt is made to analyse the economic problems arising in urban transport and to outline the economic principles upon which solutions may be formulated. In the introduction, urban transport is defined together with its relation with urban development in Britain and its control. The various topics discussed cover: urban traffic congestion, road pricing, the economics of parking and traffic management, urban public transport, urban freight movements, transport and the urban environment, urban transport planning and modelling, transport investment appraisal, and urban transport policy. An extensive bibliography is appended. /TRRL/
