BITUMINOUS MATERIALS FOR MAINTENANCE PATCHING

This paper reports on an investigation of bituminous patching materials and field procedures within the Country Roads Board, Victoria. Quality of warm mixed and cold mixed materials was found to vary considerably and in many areas quality control was virtually non-existent. Use of materials is discussed and a specification presented for production of a cold mix suitable for stockpiling. The specification gives grading limits for both dense and open graded mixes together with the composition and quantity of cutback bitumen binders required under various seasonal conditions within the State of Victoria. /TRRL/
