AN ACCESSIBILITY APPROACH TO TRIP GENERATION
This paper describes the formulation of a technique for analysing home based person trip attractions using an accessibility index. The index attempts to measure the relative drawing power of traffic zones. The resulting model obviates the need for adjusting study area attraction totals to agree with production totals (as often must be done when using regression techniques) and further allows network effects to be taken into account. The accessibility index used is not that developed by W.G. Hansen but rather an inverse of it which appears more suitable for the analysis of person trip attractions. /TRRL/
