FIELD EVALUATION OF PILE SETTLEMENT INTERACTION AND THE ELASTIC METHOD
The Poulos elastic method of estimating pile settlement is discussed. It is suggested that the elastic parameters are best determined by pile loading tests and back analysis Field tests were made on a group of driven concrete friction piles in clay to determine the ground modulus and to measure settlement interaction factors. The back calculated modulus agreed reasonably with that predicted by poulos' 'cohesion-modulus' correlation. Measured interaction factors agreed reasonably with those predicted although they tended to be slightly less than those predicted. /TRRL/
