This paper examines the use of corrugated, perforated, plastic pipe for the drainage of subsoil moisture from roads. Three types of plastic have been used for pipe manufacture, namely pvc, polyethylene and polypropylene and these plastics differ significantly in their physical properties. Pipe systems should be subjected to detailed engineering design to ensure adequate strength, sufficient slop, efficient filter and slot operation and convenient maintenance cleaning.
