SOME STATISTICAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN RAINFALL AND RUNOF
Relationships are developed between statistical parameters of annual rainfall and those of annual runoff. The transformation of rainfall into runoff is characterized by a single linear reservoir. The relationships are compared with those available in the literature, and can be utilized to describe the statistical distribution of runoff, given the distribution of rainfall. It is shown that, for large carryover, the distribution of runoff always tends to be normal regardless of the distribution of rainfall. /Author/
