REVIEW OF CONSTRUCTION NOISE LEGISLATION
Noise prediction schemes currently used by various communities are discussed. Three major cities in the United States, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, have enacted legislation dealing specifically with construciton noise. These ordinances are reviewed with respect to their influence on the contractor and the construction equipment manufacturer. Noise emission standards for portable air compressors are analyzed as an example of newly proposed standards. Noise control guidelines for the construction contractor are recommended. /Author/
