MATURITY COMPUTER FOR CONTROLLED CURING AND HARDENING OF CONCRETE

MAALEINSTRUMENT TIL KONTROL AF BETONS HAERDNING

A decision concerning the time at which formwork should be removed involves a conflict between safety, economy and quality. This decision has to be taken in many cases without being substantiated by accurate knowledge of the actual concrete strength. By using a maturity computer it is possible to follow the concrete hardening in a structure and, at the same time, to carry out the individual operations, such as insulation, stripping of forms, covering, tensioning etc on a reliable basis, since the maturity computer continuously calculates the concrete maturity i.e. the degree of hardening reached by the concrete. This computer calculates and displays the concrete maturity, the rate of maturity increase per hour, and the degree of hardening reached in relation to a predetermined maturity. The computer can be used for automatic process control by supplying a control impulse to a curing plant. /TRRL/
