SLOTTED WAVEGUIDE FOR BROADBAND COMMUNICATION WITH RAIL VEHICLES

A slotted rectangular waveguide parallel to the track is introduced for continuous communication with high-speed trains. An antenna connected to the train reaches through the slot into the H//1//0-field inside the waveguide, thus setting up a connection with low overall attenuation and practically no radiation. The construction and the performance of the slotted waveguide are described and the results of a 100-m-prototype line are given.
