STABILITY FUNCTIONS FOR STRUCTURAL MASONRY
An analytical method for the calculation of the stiffness and carry-over coefficients for masonry beam-columns is presented. The masonry element is made of a material which can resist little or no tension. It is shown that the stability functions for the conventional frame element represent an upper or lower boundary for the functions discussed here; further, that unlike in the conventional case, specific knowledge of the eccentricity ratio is required for a unique solution. /Author/TRRL/
