APPLICATION OF MULTIPLE REFLECTION INFRARED SPECTROMETRY TO THE STUDY OF SOME CORROSION PROBLEMS

APPLICATION DE LA SPECTROMETRIE INFRAROUGE PAR REFLEXIONS MULTIPLES A L'ETUDE DE QUELQUES PROBLEMES DE CORROSION

Corrosion inhibitors are compounds which, when added in small quantities, slow down the action of corrosive agents on metal. Various methods are used to test this action. These methods provide information on the inhibiting action of the compounds, but not on the nature of the products constituting the surface coatings. One possible method of studying these coatings is the use of an infrared spectrometer for reflection on the metal surfaces. This paper describes the application of this method to the examination of the compounds formed on the surface of metal bodies by some corrosion inhibitors. /TRRL/
