COMPARISON BETWEEN THE ELECTRO CHEMICAL AND CLASSICAL METHODS OF INVESTIGATING THE CORROSION OF REINFORCEMENT OF REINFORCED EARTH STRUCTURES: LIGHT ALLOYS, STAINLESS STEELS, GALVANISED AND ORDINARY STEELS

COMPARAISON ENTRE LES METHODES ELECTROCHIMIQUES ET CLASSIQUES D'ETUDE DE LA CORROSION APPLIQUEES AUX ARMATURES SHOULDREAD D'OUVRAGES EN TERRE ARMEE: ALLIGAES LEGERS, ACIER INOXYDABLES, GALVANISE ET ORDINAIRE

The aim of the article is the comparison of the behaviour of metals by test in a natural medium and in the laboratory and the determination of which method, amongst the various accelerated test methods, provides the most realistic forecasts. Five methods have been compared in total, of which one serves as a control reference, as it concerns actual tests on the embedment of alloys in soils. Comparative classification of the methods is also presented. The corrosion tests were carried out with the same soils which were chosen for the construction. These consisted of 0/20 clayey gravels 4/16 limestone gravels 4/16 siliceous gravels, 0/5 limestone sand, siliceous sand 0/5, and marine sand. /TRRL/
