LANDING BARGE BECOMES CORING SHIP
Conversion of a navy landing craft into an efficient core-drilling vessel that enabled Chile's ENAP to conduct some critical seabed studies at a reduced cost is described. The coring operation was an offshoot of last year's wildcatting campaign undertaken by ENAP to find offshore prolongations of existing onshore oil fields. Five steps involved in the conversion of the landing craft are summarized.
