HAPPY RUNNER--HEAVY LOAD CARRIER OF UNIQUE DESIGN COMMISSIONED
The 2 766 tdw heavy LIFT ship "Happy Runner" has a length oa of 81.81 m, a beam of 15.50 m, a draft of 5.55 m, and is powered by two Stork Werkspoor type 9FCHD240 diesel engines each developing 1150 hp at 900 rpm. The ship has two heavy lift derricks, each having a safe working load of 160 tons. Roll-on/roll-off cargo is also carried to a capacity of 1,000 tons. The heavy derrick aft has been installed on the ship's starboard side, an arrangement which has resulted in an unobstructed deck area of the "open" ship of 750 sq. m of which every single spot can be reached by at least one of the 160 tons heavy derricks, and through which the height of cargo carried is not restricted by the vessel's superstructure or equipment.
