VEHICLES. TRACK PANELS. STRESS ON THE BALLAST

FAHRZEUG. GLEISROST. SCHOTTERBEANSPRUCHUNG

It is possible to retard track panel sagging and cut down on maintenance costs by reducing the amount of pressure on the ballast. In addition to adapting axle loads and the wheel base, another factor can be that of the way sleepers are arranged for a given rail profile. Consideration must also be given to the torsion and lifting movement of the sleeper, as well as to the difference between the rigidity of the ballast and that of the sub-soil.
