ACCIDENTS AND THE ENVIRONMENT AT SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION; (REPORT) PREPARED FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR TRANSPORT, NSW
We have divided the report into three parts. The first is a statement of guidelines to aid intersection design and location. The second part of the report contains a summary of our findings and the third part contains technical details, including the ranges of variables, statistical analysis and techniques, etc. We have followed a philosophy of considering that accidents relate to the environment in which the driver is passing or has just passed. In addition to the findings of this report, we have indications that other variables, if tested more thoroughly will lead to further knowledge of reducing accidents. Part 111 of the report contains a section on possible lines of further investigation. In the light of the large cost/benefits which should result from this study, we feel that considerable weight should be given by the department to continuing work in this field. /Author/TRRL/
