WINTER MAINTENANCE IS OFTEN WAITING GAME

Road weather information systems help pinpoint when crews are more precisely needed, and other computerization can also help improve productivity and cut winter maintenance costs. In simulations in Ottawa, Canada, operators plowed software-optimized routes from 60 to 90 percent faster.
