ORIENTATION SEMINARS FOR REVISED NHTSA CURRICULUM PACKAGES

The purpose of the traffic safety training study was to introduce two revised NHTSA curriculum packages into the mainstream of teaching activity. These packages were the second editions of the 'Basic Training Course for Emergency Medical Technicians' and the 'Highway Safety Workshop for Traffic Court Judges.' The study involved development of a 15-hour seminar for each package, conduct of the seminars and all administrative responsibilities relative to the seminars. Sessions were included on the design of the revised curriculum package, instructional tasks required to prepare for and to teach the course, and sessions on planning, managing and evaluating the course. A complete curriculum package was developed for each seminar including a course guide for the training administrator, lesson plans for the seminar instructors and a study guide for the attendee.
