LOAD FACTOR DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STEEL I BEAM COMPOSITE HIGHWAY BRIDGES

This report presents a summary of the results of a comphrehensive research program, designed to evaluate the load distribution and effective width of steel composite highway bridges, under factored loading. The results are given in the form of several emperical equations, for use in determining the load distribution and effective slab widths. Applications of these equations, relative to the design of several bridges, is given in detail. A commentary of the theory, model experiments, and correlation between theory and tests is also given.
