CALIBRATION, MAINTENANCE AND USE OF THE ROLLING STRAIGHT EDGE
Requirements for the surface regularity of newly-constructed roads are defined in the current specification for road and bridge works in terms of the maximum permissible numbers of irregularities beneath a rolling straightedge of the type designed by the transport and Road Research Laboratory. This report provides a guide to the calibration and maintenance of this equipment and to its use in checking compliance with these requirements.
