THE CONCEPT OF A PRACTICAL SAFETY VEHICLE THROUGH ACCIDENT ANALYSIS

From detailed investigations conducted since 1972 on approximately 400 traffic accidents, 103 cases involving passenger cars, excluding buses and light cars, and resulting in serious and fatal injuries have been selected and fully analyzed to determine the safety measures to be taken for accident prevention, reduction in injury, and prevention of accident enlargement. The safety measures selected have been studied in detail for cost benefits, technical consideration has been given to the results, and a design guide has been determined to form the concept of a practical, safe vehicle which will lead to a 50 percent reduction in the number of victims. /Author/TRRL/
