MEDICAL FACTORS IN THE CAUSATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

Over a period of about a year, starting in April 1973, nearly 10,000 Montreal drivers were interviewed by telephone. Information obtained concerned, on the one hand, medical and associated conditions and, on the other hand, driving habits, in particular annual mileage. Records of accidents suffered by these drives in the Province of Quebec over the three years 1973 to 1975 have also been collected. About four accidents per thousand caused dealths, and a further 140 per thousand caused injury. Attempts are being made to obtain greater details in these cases. Records of accidents suffered elsewhere are also being sought. /Author/
