CONSIDERATIONS ON THE CRUSHING TEST FOR ROCK MATERIALS AND A PROPOSAL FOR A BETTER STANDARDISATION

CONSIDERAZIONI SULLA PROVA DI FRANTUMAZIONE DEI MATERIALI LAPIDEI E PROPOSTA PER UNA MIGLIORE NORMALIZZAZIONE

The findings of tests on the crushing coefficient of rocks of different lithologic type, indicate that the coefficient is influenced by varying the initial grain size composition within a prescribed range. The extent of this influence is dependent on the type of material, and the standardisation of a reference grain size distribution is therefore proposed to eliminate any bias. An experiment is described showing the use of this reference value, to arrive at the crushing coefficient. This was achieved by using a sample with a random grain size distribution falling however within the prescribed range for the normal test procedure. /TRRL/
