DEVELOPMENT TRENDS IN PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES

ENTWICKLUNGSTENDENZEN NFUZEITLICHER PERSONENKRAFTWAGEN

In regard to a schematic distribution of the production process from time of concept to the production stage of an automobile, the authors deal with those environmental influences which affect this process and also with their results in terms of the finished product. The paper deals more closely with the results of regulations governing exhaust fumes, questions of safety and trends towards particular classes of cubic capacity in the Federal Republic of Germany. These factors are contrasted with the natural limits which exist in the construction of automobiles such as interior space, the duration of development and the commercial aspects. The paper deals with the effects of the following on the developmental trends of the automobile: (1) fluctuations in market and the economy; (2) relationship to the basic natural laws; (3) control by an ever stricter system of laws and regulations; (4) the duration of development; (5) the likelihood of success in the case of rapidly changing commercial environments. /TRRL/
