TECHNIQUES FOR TREATING SWELLING SOIL SUBGRADES OF HIGHWAYS

The techniques for treating swelling soil subgrades on the Taian-Laiwu expressway are expounded, including filling sand soil insulating courses, adopting admixtures to amend swelling soil, using whole-cross-section confining top layers, treating slopes and side ditches with mortar block stone pitching, and so on. Laboratory tests to improve swelling soil by means of sand mats, lime and NCS solidifying material are carried out as well as in-situ testing. The treating effect testing is introduced.
