FATIGUE STRENGTH OF VERY LARGE CAST STEEL CRANKSHAFTS WITH SURFACE COLD ROLLING OF THEIR FILLET
Strengthening of a large crank fillet by cold rolling improves the fatigue strength of the crankshaft. Special cold rolling equipment for the crank fillet has been developed by Kobe Steel, Ltd. Use of this process and machine has increased the fatigue strength of crankshafts by 50% over non-cold rolled crankshafts.
