TO TRAVEL HOPEFULLY. A SURVEY OF COMMUTING

This survey on commuting around the world argues that congestion may be much less of a problem than economists and social planners tend to believe. Many public opinion studies show that as urban problems go, it ranks far below crime, education and general pollution. Large numbers of commuters suffer little from congestion; in the United States, half of all trips to work take under 22 minutes.
