WHEELCHAIR PATRONS "GET LIFT" FROM SAN DIGO TRANSIT BUSES
The first buses in the United States retrofitted to accommodate persons confined to wheelchairs and placed in regular fixed route operation went into service on San Diego Transit's Routes 3 and 7 on Sunday, February 6, 1977. So far, San Diego Transit has retrofitted five of its regular transit buses in this manner as a means of testing response and as a continuing part of its research and development program. /GMRL/
