A prefabricated tie back wall is a flexible retaining structure in which reinforced concrete face blocks are anchored with tie rods to anchor blocks in the backfill. The tie rods are generally spaced about 6 feet horizontally and 4 feet vertically. The length of the anchor rods and the anchor requirements depend on the soil conditions and site geometry. The design criteria and construction procedure for the wall are presented. This type of wall was used on a project in northern Idaho and a description of that project is given.
