CURVED I-GIRDER BRIDGE DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS
Recently completed research has resulted in a tentative design guide for horizontally curved steel I-girder bridges which is being considered by AASHTO for inclusion into the Standard Bridge Design Specifications. This paper describes the proposed design criteria and respective parts of the commentary. Only those articles of the curved girder specifications that represent significant changes from the current AASHTO straight girder provisions are included in this paper. Also included is a discussion of further needed research on curved girder bridges, and a summary of on-going research.
