DEVELOPMENTS ON PLASTIC FLOATING BREAKWATER
The flexible structure is composed of plastic blocks and pipes combined in three-dimensional form to give the desired damping effect and durability. Its wave damping mechanism is the combined effect of surface friction when waves pass through the floating body, wave reflection against the body, and reflection in phase difference between waves and the body. It also has very good impact resistances because of its stereo-grid structure. The paper discusses development of the breakwater, experimental research and sea trials.
