RECORD DRY DOCK HAS CYLINDER PILE WALLS

Construction of a new drydock in Newport News, Va, claimed to be the largest in the Western Hemisphere, is described. The dock is 1,600 ft long, 250 ft wide and 44 ft deep. A 900-ton-capacity gantry crane standing 234 ft high spans 540 ft across the dock and an adjacent equipment staging area.
