CONTRIBUTION TO THE LABORATORY STUDY OF GRAVEL-EMULSION. TESTS WITH TYPICAL ANIONIC EMULSIONS AND ELECTRONEGATIVE AGGREGATES

CONTRIBUCION AL ESTUDIO DE LA GRAVA EMULSION EN LABORATORIO (IV). ENSAYOS CON EMULSIONES ANIONICAS TIPICAS Y ARIDOS ELECTRONEGATIVOS

Results are given of tests on limestone aggregates and slow-breaking anionic emulsions. The following factors were studied: percentage of emulsion and water used in the coating process; bitumen penetration; sand equivalent; age of samples at breaking point; method of curing (in drying oven at 600 g.c. up to a constant weight or latter treatment by exposure to the air); effect of water on the samples (immersion or steam); temperature and time for the water to take effect; comparative study of immersion - compression tests and tests on sensitivity to steam with samples of the immersion or hveem type. Details are given of the test procedures with a view to determining the stability of the samples. /TRRL/
