AN ANALYSIS ON THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF MARINE ENGINES WITH REGARDS TO SHIP ECONOMY
The method of analysis is presented, and two optimum points are identified: maximum profit and minimum transportation cost. It is shown how these two points are influenced by the fuel consumption of a ship's engine, and this is illustrated in the case of a 60000 DWT products tanker with diesel engine propulsion.
