ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FACE PLATE AND SKIN PLATE AT BILGE PART OF TANKERS-1ST AND 2ND REPORT
The structural analysis of tankers by the matrix method has been developed providing knowledge on the stresses at various parts of a ship. To better define the transverse strength at the turn of the bilge section, experiments with full scale structural models were undertaken. The experimental results are compared with theoretical values computed by the finite element method. From this certain new design criteria are presented to improve the structural strength of the hull at the bilge part of tankers.
