COMPACT 25,000 SHAFT HORSEPOWER CLASS ENGINE

An outline is given of a high-performance gas turbine which occupies less space than one cylinder of a low-speed diesel engine. This size consideration can, in some cases, either increase the cargo capacity or reduce ship size by 10 to 12% independent studies have indicated. Maintenance considerations for the turbines are significantly lower than for other systems, reducing the crew size and, as a result, space required for crew accommodations.
