COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATION AND INSTRUMENTATION DESIGN FOR SHIPS
Automation and instrumentation of both ship maneuvering and propulsion plant operation have recently been gaining in importance and becoming more complex. As a result, Nippon Kokan's Basic Machinery Design Department has focused its efforts on the computerized planning of an overall design, covering both the propulsion plant operation as well as automation and instrumentation. The authors describe the first stage of this comprehensive computerization plan, which has already been completed and which includes the system design, cost estimating and output of several types of data.
