DYNAMIC RESPONSES OF BERTH-MOORINGS-TANKER EXCITED BY WATER WAVES

The paper discusses experimental and analytical approaches in predicting dynamic responses of supertankers moored at sea-berth subjected to wave action, and related mooring forces and impact forces exerted on the mooring and breasting dolphins. Primary efforts were devoted to the determination of the response operators of impact forces, mooring forces, and ship motions and the effects of elastic characteristics of dolphin-fender system and mooring lines on these parameters. The experimental results of the 1:40 scale model tanker of 200,000 DWT class are used to predict the impact forces for supertankers of other classes from 100,000 to 500,000 DWT based on Froude-scale extrapolations.
